One War Too Many Chapter 1 Ash rolled off the bench of the armoured car and hit the ground with a thud. She let out a sharp squeak of pain as her head lightly bounced off the warm metal floor. It took her a few seconds, but she managed herself back into a sitting pose, squinting all the while at the early sunlight streaming through the rear hatch. As her eyes adjusted, she could see a familiar figure in the doorway, taller than she and lean with muscle.
